How can I clean and maintain my shower enclosure to prevent leaks and corrosion?

The key to long-term maintenance is simple daily habits that prevent mineral deposits and mould from forming. To prevent the build up of limescale and mildew:

✔️Squeegee the glass: After every shower, use a rubber squeegee to wipe down the glass and tile walls. This removes 80-90% of the water and prevents the minerals (limescale) and soap scum from drying and etching the glass.

✔️Wipe down the seals/frame: Use a microfiber cloth or towel to quickly wipe down the bottom track, the door seals/gaskets, and any metal frame. Water often pools here, leading to mildew on seals and rust on metal over time.

✔️Boost Ventilation: Run your bathroom's extractor fan for at least 15-20 minutes after you finish showering, or open a window. This removes humidity, which is the main culprit for mildew on the seals.

✔️Rinse the enclosure: Give the walls, doors, and tray a quick rinse with warm water before you step out to wash away residual soap and shampoo. Avoid using bar soap, as the talc it contains creates more soap scum than liquid soap/gel.
