Why is the finish on my tap peeling or corroding?
Peeling or corrosion of the outside of the tap usually results from harsh cleaning agents or standing water on the surface. Correct cleaning restores protection and prevents recurrence. If you are experiencing discoloured patches or a dull or chalky appearance, here's how to adjust your cleaning routine to prevent flaws:
- Clean the area gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
- Never use abrasive pads, bleach, or acidic cleaners.
- Dry immediately after cleaning to prevent limescale deposits.
- For severe corrosion please contact your retailer with supported images
Tip: Avoid leaving wet cloths or sponges resting on matt finishes — moisture causes discolouration over time. Baby oil can be used on chrome plating to restore shine.
