My shower water pressure seems too low — how can I improve it?
Low pressure or weak flow may indicate blockages or insufficient water supply pressure. If you are experiencing a weak water flow, poor shower performance or a difference in water pressure between outlets, the following steps can help to resolve the issue:
- For gravity-fed systems, confirm the height of the cold-water tank.
- If using a combi boiler, verify the boiler pressure is within normal range.
- Check the shower outlets for limescale or blockages.
- Turn off the water supply.
- Remove the handles, trim plate and extract the thermostatic cartridge and/or the flow cartridge. Instructions for your product can be found by selecting the relevant product in our website and navigating to the 'Downloads' tab on the product page.
- Check the cartridge(s) for any scale or debris build up
- Clean filters inside the cartridge.
- Soak in descaler (e.g. white vinegar) for 30 minutes and then wash through with water.
- Return the cartridge(s) to the valve and replace the handles and trim kit.
- Adjust between hot and cold to confirm smooth temperature control, then test the flow function to ensure correct operation.
Tip: Avoid mixing high- and low-pressure supplies on one valve — both feeds should be balanced.
If you need to replace the cartridge, use only genuine Crosswater parts as others many not align correctly and can invalidate your warranty. Spare cartridges can be found on our official spares website. Ensure compatibility by matching the product image or part code.
